Campus Estates is led by global student accommodation development expert Jon Whittle.
Jon founded Campus Estates in 2015 and collaborated with Global Student Accommodation Group (GSA) in 2016, when they re-entered the Australian market as part of the Group’s global expansion strategy.
Jon left GSA in 2019 to refocus on Campus Estates. Prior to founding Campus Estates, Jon was the UK Development Director at UNITE Students, responsible for the implementation of acquisitions and development of major student accommodation projects throughout the UK.
“When I was a student, I bought a house and filled it with students”
His efforts helped UNITE become the leading provider of PBSA in the UK, developing over 40,000 beds by 2008 in 140 buildings across 30 towns and cities throughout the UK.
In 2009, Jon co-founded Campus Development Management with Tim Mitchell. The company advised and co-invested with established property companies and investors, driving major UK PBSA schemes through planning and development and also advising on international PBSA development.
This ultimately led to Jon relocating to Australia in 2011 to join Urbanest Australia as Director and Head of Development, spearheading their expansion of residences across Sydney and Melbourne and helping Urbanest to become one of Australia’s leading owner operators of purpose built student accommodation.
